HP made some great announcements on the Lefthand portfolio

Last week HP made some important announcements on the Lefthand portfolio:

Rebranding to HP StoreVirtual 4000 Storage

Having started with the VSA, finally the whole P4000 Lefthand portfolio will be rebranded to HP StoreVirtual P4000 Storage family…
In addition, the SAN/iQ operating system will be rebranded to Lefthand OS.

New models

2 new models were announced: 4130 and 4330, with the 30 part meaning that it’s the third generation.
They are 1U platforms based on Proliant Gen8 hardware. Toey have SFF SAS drives in both models, the 4330 can also have SFF MDL drives…
With the 900GB SAS drives would this mean that it offers now 4x the capacity compared to the previous G2 models…

Fibre Channel

Yes! Untill now the Lefthand portfolio was a iSCSI solution only.
In the new models HP added the FC stack so that FC hosts can connect also connect to the Lefthand volumes…
So customers will have the choice of iSCSI, FC or both protocols mixed… I see some nice opportunities there…

Lefthand OS v10.0

The new OS version will offer increased Windows integration with AD, Windows 2012 support.
Further is there improved performance, including increased remote copy, and dual CPU spoort for the VSA.

Availability is foreseen from 4 december on…

Since I will be attending HP DIscover in Frankfurt at that moment, U can expect more information from there online!
